α — Pressure angle Pitch Base Root Outer m = d / N Module = Pitch / Teeth
Module (m)
Tooth size in mm. Module (m) = Pitch Diameter (d) / Number of Teeth (N). Two gears must share the same module to mesh.
Pitch circle
The imaginary rolling circle the tooth size is defined against — not a physical edge on the gear.
Pressure angle (α)
The angle of the tooth flank at the pitch circle. 20° is standard; it sets how "pointed" vs "stubby" the teeth are.
Center distance
Two meshing gears' shaft centers should be spaced (Pitch ₁ + Pitch ₂) / 2 apart. Little to no additional slop should be needed for appropriate depthing. Your gear's Pitch is shown above the viewport.
